An American journalist and author, born in Chicago, Illinois. He entered the University of Illinois where he studied journalism, then joined the US Army and worked as an editorial assistant at Infantry Magazine, then joined the staff of Newsday in 1968. He covered a wide range of sports such as football, boxing, basketball, and horse racing. He's known for Secretariat (2010) and Rocky Marciano (1999). He died on 13 April 2018 in Washington, D.C., USA.
