The distinguished writer Abdel Moneim Seliem was born in 1929. He obtained a degree in law from Cairo University in 1953. He prepared the translation of several dramatic programs for the Arabic station on British Radio. He began his literary activity by writing short stories in 1952 and co-founded the 100-Chair Theater in 1968. Among his theatrical writings are The Chair and The Murdered, in addition to a number of one-act plays, short story collections, translations, and literary articles. He died on April 22, 2004.
