An American producer, director, and actor, born in Illinois, United States. He began his career by working at Paramount Pictures, where he participated in five films directed by suspense film director Alfred Hitchcock, including Rear Window (1954) and Vertigo (1958) before he left the company, and then collaborated with director John Huston on the films The Misfits (1961), Freud (1962), and Reflections in a Golden Eye (1967), after which his artistic contributions continued.
