American cinematographer, born on November 4, 1908, in New York in the United States. He studied at New York University. He began his career in photography, first as an assistant to the famous photographers Streichan and Bachrach (he designed many of their sumptuous background collections), then as an assistant to the Pathé Revue and several companies. He is known for The Night of the Hunter (1995), The Magnificent Ambersons (1942), and Since You Went Away (1944). He died on December 23, 1997, in Hollywood in the United States due to a heart attack.
