An American record producer, guitarist, and composer, born in New York. He is one of the most influential music producers in history. He began his career as a guitarist in New York, working as a touring musician for the Sesame Street stage show during his adolescence. He formed the Big Apple Band in 1972 with bassist Bernard Edwards, which was renamed Chic in 1977. They released hit singles such as "Everybody Dance", "Good Times" and "Le Freak". They also wrote and produced music for other artists, including "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge and "I'm Coming Out" by Diana Ross. Following Chic's breakup in 1983, Rodgers collaborated with many artists such as David Bowie, INXS, Madonna, and Lady Gaga. Rodgers founded Sumthing Else Music Works record label in 1998, which focused on distributing video game soundtracks. He did the score of films such as Coming to America, Earth Girls Are Easy, and Beverly Hills Cop III.
