Shaimaa Saied |
An Egyptian poet and writer, born in Damanhur, Beheira Governorate. He lived in Egypt, Russia, Yugoslavia, and Romania. He obtained his high school diploma from Heliopolis Military Secondary School, which qualified him to join the Military College, where he graduated in 1952. He worked as an officer in the Armored Corps and rose to the position of Director of the Libraries Department in the Armed Forces. He also taught at the Nasser Military Academy, and he retired with the rank of Major General in 1982. He was a member of the Writers’ Union and the Authors and Composers Society, and a founding member of the Heliopolis Culture Palace.
He participated in the wars of 1956, 1967, and 1973. He published his first collection of poetry in 1967, entitled "The Homeland." He then moved on to writing for film and television. His credits include Bravest Man in the World, The Rules of Time, and The Girl with the Wooden Shoes. He died on January 10, 2002, in Cairo.
