Shaimaa Saied |
A Canadian actress, born in 1952 in Eastmain, Quebec, Canada, and raised in Ontario. She spent her early life with her parents and siblings, but at the age of nine, she was sent to Shingwauk Residential School. At this school, she was subjected to violence and abuse. After leaving school at the age of 15, she had problems with drug abuse, but succeeded in turning her life around and began working in film and theatre. Her experiences at a boarding school and her road to recovery were documented in her play Path with No Moccasins (1991). Her works include Johnny Greyeyes (2000), Backroads (2000) and Medicine River (1993).
