An Iraqi writer and director, born in Iraqi Kurdistan in 1964. He documented the lives of Iraqi Kurds in films such as Vive la mariée... et la libération du Kurdistan and Vodka Lemon, which won the San Marco Prize at the Venice Film Festival in 2003. Among his most important works are Tight Dress (2016) and My Sweet Pepper Land (2013).
