An Irish actor who appeared in many films and television series with a variety of actors. He began his artistic career in Irish comedy in 1970 with the movie Paddy, where he played a small role. In the same year, he played a small role in a movie about World War II, The McKenzie Break. Despite his success on stage, he did not participate in any work for twelve years, but he decided to return to cinema and worked in Attracta (1983) and The Country Girls (1983). He then worked in The Ballroom of Romance (1986). Also, he worked in a number of television series and gained great fame in the 1990s playing Father Michael Curtis in 1995 in Sharpe, then he participated in the role of a nobleman in the legendary movie Braveheart. His other credits include The Tudors (2007-2008) and Vikings (2013-2020).
