An Indian actress and model, born to Indian parents. She has two older sisters. The composer Nitin Sawhney is her cousin. Her family moved to Bangalore in 1981. Lara studied at St. Francis Xavier Girls High School, then graduated from the University of Mumbai, where she studied economics and communications. She is fluent in English, French, and Hindi. She was crowned Miss Intercontinental 1997, then Miss Universe 2000. In 2002, Lara joined the cast of the Tamil film Arasatchi. In 2003, she worked in the film Andaaz, for which she won the Filmfare Award for Best Debut Actress. After a hiatus due to her pregnancy, she resumed her career with the film David. |
