An English film, voice, radio, theatre, and television actor, born in London, United Kingdom. He received several scholarships until he obtained a degree in history, then he became a cadet at the Royal Naval College at the age of 17. After graduating, he spent 8 years as a Royal Marine Commando, and served in East Asia. After leaving military service, he joined the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), and began his career in television, then theater and cinema.
He worked in many theaters, including the West End and the Theater Royal. He was married three times and had two children. Among his credits are Of Human Bondage (1964), For Your Eyes Only (1981) and Colditz (1972-1974). He died of a heart attack in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, on December 11, 2021, at age 92.
