Add/Update Information: Javed Akhtar - Writer

An Indian writer, born on January 17, 1945. His father was the famous poet Jan Nisar Akhtar, who wrote in Urdu, a language closely related to Hindi, but whose vocabulary is striking, both Persian and Arabic. He is most famous for writing poetry for Indian cinema (lyricist). In the 1970s, he wrote about the musical films that made Amitabh Bachchan famous in the role of an activist and rebel in the class struggle, especially in DEEWAR and ZANJEER. He wrote more than thirty screenplays, in collaboration with Salem (Khan) until the early 1980's, and then alone. He is married to artist and women's rights activist Shabana Azmi.
