He has appeared in numerous television, theater, and film productions, most notably in the Dr. Seuss play, in which he played the Grinch, the series LazyTown (2002), the films Jóhannes (2009), and Harry og Heimir (2014). In 2016, he was diagnosed with bile duct cancer, and the disease caused his death on August 21, 2018.
