An American writer and director, born in Rochester, New York, United States. He attended James Madison High School in Brooklyn, and was a saxophone player. He founded a band called Garson Kanin and His Red Hot Peppers. During this period, he studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, worked in Broadway, and then worked as an assistant to George Abbott. Some of his credits include The Great Man Votes (1939), Bachelor Mother (1939) and Adam's Rib (1949). He died on March 13, 1999. |
