An American prosthetic makeup artist, actor and stunt performer of Italian origins, born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. He attended Point Park University for three years before joining the United States Army, and after serving in Vietnam, he studied at Carnegie Mellon University. He obtained a full fellowship in the acting and directing program from the university, and then became a professional in the makeup industry. He then attracted the attention of director George A. Romero, who gave him his breakthrough in the movie Dawn of the Dead (1978). His other credits include Creepshow 2 (1987), Night of the Living Dead (1990) and Ghostwriter (1995).
