A British actor, born in Sunderland, England. He was educated in Glasgow. He wanted to become a teacher, but after national service in the Royal Scots Greys, he decided to work with his father. He then became a sales manager, and worked in his spare time with amateur theater groups, which prompted him to decide to change his career direction after he decided to study at the College of Dramatic Art at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He worked as assistant director of the Citizens Theater in Glasgow, and within three months, he was playing major roles in the theater, and after that, his work in theater and cinema continued. Some of his credits include Judge Dredd (1995) and Macbeth (2015).
