An American writer, born in New York, USA. He was the son of actress Florence Hackett and the brother of actor Raymond Hackett. He worked as an actress in his childhood, then specialized in screenwriting. He received the Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama with his wife, Frances Goodrich, for the play The Diary of Anne Frank. He is known for Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954), The Thin Man (1934), and Easter Parade (1948). |
