An American investigative journalist and documentary filmmaker, born in Colorado. HE grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and studied at Shimer College in 1958. He moved to England, then joined the International Socialists (which later became the Socialist Workers Party in the United Kingdom). He also attended the London School of Film Technique, now known as the London Film School. He made a series of documentaries about the political unrest in the United States during the late 1960s for the BBC. He also produced and directed more than fifty documentaries. Some of his credits include Thief (1981) and We Steal Secrets (2013). He died in London, England.
