An American actor and singer, born in Brooklyn, New York, to Italian immigrant parents. He began acting and singing in his teenage years. During World War II, he served in the United States Army in the Philippines. He began his professional artistic career in acting by working in New York City theater, then turned to the small screen, participating in hundreds of series and more than twenty films, in addition to many plays. His credits include The Apartment (1960) and The Last Mile (1959).
