An American author and historian, born in Decatur, Illinois, United States. He studied at Louisiana State University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was a professor of history at the University of New Orleans and director emeritus of the Eisenhower Center. He wrote the book “Band of Brothers,” which was adapted into a mini-series of the same name, and won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries. He also wrote biographies of two American presidents, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Richard Nixon. His works exceeded thirty books. He died on October 13, 2002.
