Dr. Abdel Aziz Hamouda was born in 1937. He obtained a BA in English at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University, in 1960, then a master’s degree in 1965, and a doctorate in 1969 from the United States in the field of theater literature, and after his return, he was appointed as a teacher at the Faculty of Arts, Cairo University.
He held several university positions until he became a professor of English literature, then was elected head of the department and vice-dean of the college, then its dean during the second half of the eighties. In 1989, he was assigned to work as a cultural advisor at the Egyptian Embassy in Washington until 1992. Upon his return to Cairo, he was sent to teach at Al Ain University in the United Arab Emirates and became its vice president in 1993.
Dr. Abdel Aziz Hamouda also held the position of President of Misr University for Science & Technology for several years. He published several books and studies in the field of literary criticism, including "Aesthetics," "Modern Criticism," and "The Political Theater." He passed away in 2006.
