Selim participated in several works throughout his career, such as the movie We Are the Children, the drama The Sigh of a Mother, and the play The Drummer of the Neighborhood, in addition to writing and directing several plays, such as The Orphan. Since 2001, Selim has won many awards, especially for his work as a poet, such as the Certificate of Merit from the Faculty of Commerce at Beirut Arab University for the poem "Asheqat Al Qamar" (The Lover of the Moon), in addition to the awards he won as an actor, such as Best Actor and Best Music Awards for the play When Sleep Leaves Your Eyes at the 2008 Philadelphia Arab Universities Theater Festival, held in Philadelphia University in Amman, Jordan.
