An Indian journalist, politician and actor, born on 14 July 1954 in New Delhi, India. He began his education at Raja Muthiah High School, after his family moved from Delhi to Chennai, and then moved to the Central School of the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. He played football, cricket and hockey, representing his school and college teams, and also joined the NCC Institution of the Indian Army, and became one of the cadets who participated in the Republic Day Parade in 1970. After completing his pre-university levels at Loyola College, he later graduated with a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Madras. He moved to Bangalore to work for the newly launched Tamil newspaper Dinakaran, where he started working as a bike boy delivering newspapers to shops. He later graduated to become a reporter for the same newspaper. His acting credits include Sandamarutham (2015), Nattamai (1994), Nam Naadu (2007) and Jithan (2005). His awards include the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his role in Suryavamsam.
