A British-Indian actor, born on January 8, 1929, to a Muslim family in Malerkotla, Punjab region. He began his acting career by co-founding a theatrical company in New Delhi. He participated in many notable works throughout his career that spanned more than 50 years, such as The Man Who Would Be King (1975), Gandhi (1982), A Passage to India (1984), and My Beautiful Laundrette (1985). He died on November 15, 2015, in London at the age of 86. |
