An American writer, born in New York, United States. He attended Brooklyn College in New York, and later obtained a master's in Playwriting at Yale University. He was the son of a judge and former US Congressman. He was famous for his frequent collaborations with directors Robert Redford and Sydney Pollack. Among his works are Out of Africa (1985), The Firm (1993) and Sabrina (1995). He married screenwriter Lila Garrett. He died in Manhattan, New York. |
