An American writer, born on October 17, 1914, in Cleveland, Ohio, USA, to a Jewish immigrant family from Lithuania. He was a shy student who was not particularly popular and was a fan of comic strips and films, especially science fiction films, then he met his long-time collaborator Joe Shuster. He co-created the character of Superman with Shuster, and in 1938, it debuted in a comic book. Siegel married his wife Joanne in 1948. He died on January 28, 1996, in Los Angeles, California, USA. Among the notable productions adapted from his works are Smallville (2010), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), and The Death of Superman (2018).
