He began participating in the movements of cinema clubs and amateur cinema in his youth, then moved to Rome, where he studied...Read more cinema, and upon the liquidation of the state’s film production sector, he founded a production company in 1982, through which he contributed to the production of a large number of Tunisian feature films and shorts, most notably Halfaouine: Boy of the Terraces and The Silences of the Palace, who won the Tanit d'Or Award at the Carthage Film Festival in 1994. Moreover, he was behind the release of the first Tunisian animated film, as he presented, in cooperation with Tunisia Studios, as well as Algerian, Moroccan, Lebanese, and Syrian production companies, the film The Carthage Castaways. He died on Friday, August 10, 2007, in Tunisia, at the age of 61, after a long struggle with illness.
