Actor Peter Lorre was born on June 26, 1904, in Ružomberok, Slovakia, which at that time belonged to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He decided to train in stage acting in Vienna and appeared in his first work in Zurich, but he was not known at the time. For seven years, he continued to move with theater companies between Germany, Austria, and Switzerland until Fritz Lang gave him the title role in his famous movie M (1931), which helped Lorre achieve international fame.
He continued to appear in many German and English movies, such as The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934), until the Nazis rose to power, so he decided to move to Paris, then London, and finally Hollywood, where he participated in many notable movies, including The Maltese Falcon (1941) and Casablanca (1942).
