When he was six years old, he moved with his family to a rural area in Louisiana and graduated from St. Louis Catholic High School in 1993. He joined Louisiana State University. His first novel, “Galveston,” was published in 2010 and has been translated into a number of languages. He is known for True Detective (2014-2024) and The Guilty (2021).
