American actor, born on August 23, 1970 in Maders, Oregon. He was brought up religious despite his parents' differing religions. In 1977, his family moved to Los Angeles, and his father encouraged all of his sons to find opportunities to act. By the age of 10, he became a professional television actor. His debut on the cinema screen was in 1985 through the movie Explorers, but his most prominent appearance was through the blockbuster movie Stand by Me (1986). This movie achieved a great reputation for him and gave him the opportunity to appear in many films such as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) and Running on Empty, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in 1988. On October 31, 1993, he died at the age of over 23 years old due to severe poisoning resulting from the abuse of a different types of drugs, including fatal doses of cocaine and morphine.
