Austrian writer and director, born on December 6, 1942, in Griffen, Carinthia, Austria. He has been married to Sophie Semin since 1995, and they have one child. In 2019, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature. His directorial debut was Chronik der laufenden Ereignisse (1971). In 1961, Handke began studying law at the University of Graz. He is known for The Left-Handed Woman (1977), Wings of Desire (1987), and Wrong Move (1975).
