An American playwright and author, born in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. In 1937, he received his degree from Ohio State University. Additionally, in 1939, he enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles, and during World War II, he worked as a war correspondent in Italy and North Africa. He co-wrote more than thirty plays with Robert Edwin Lee, and among his theatrical works is Mame, which won a Tony Award. He is known for Inherit the Wind (1960). |
