Salma El-Sharkawy |
An American writer, born in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. In 1937, he received his degree from Ohio State University. Additionally, in 1939, he enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles, and during World War II, he worked as a war correspondent in Italy and North Africa. He co-authored more than thirty plays with author Robert Edwin Lee, and among his theatrical works was “Mame,” adapted from his novel, for which he won a Tony Award for best theatrical work.
