Salma El-Sharkawy |
A British director, born in Shepperton, Middlesex, England. He worked as a director of documentaries on the BBC, before going to Hollywood. There, he directed Point Blank (1967) and Hell in the Pacific (1968) before returning to the UK. His most notable works include Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977), Excalibur (1981), and Hope and Glory (1987). John has received several nominations at the Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards and won two awards at the Cannes Film Festival for Best Director. He currently lives in Ireland and has seven children, including the actor Charley Boorman and the actress Katrine Boorman. |
