French screenwriter, director, and actor, born in France. He discovered a passion for theater while studying at Lycée Paul Lapie and enrolled at the Cours Florent school in 1974. Then, in 1975, he enrolled at the Rue Blanche School, where he received training that enabled him to enter the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique in Paris in 1976. He is best known for Psy (1981), Red Lights (2004), Mon père est ingénieur (2004), and Le Havre (2011).
