An English actor, born on March 1, 1910 in Belgravia, London. He attended Stowe School, then the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, and served two years in Malta, joining the Highland Light Infantry. With the outbreak of WWII, the then famous Niven went back to England and rejoined the British army. He appeared in two propaganda films during the war, The First of the Few (a.k.a. Spitfire) (1942), and The Way Ahead (1944). His career spanned five decades, and his notable films include The Guns of Navarone (1961), The Pink Panther (1963), Murder by Death (1976), and Death on the Nile (1978). |
