A British director, born in Leeds, England. He obtained a university degree in Politics and East Asian Studies at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Fukuoka University in Japan. He immigrated to the United States in 1992 and lived in New York, then moved to New Orleans, and then to Los Angeles in 1995. Among his most prominent works are Still Alice, Echo Park LA, The Last of Robin Hood, and Colette.
