An American actor, born in Norwood, Ohio, on September 16, 1934. In 1962 he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting for the movie West Side Story (1961). He made his debut at the age of 12, when he sang in the chorus of the...Read more movie Song of Love (1947). He paricipated as a ballet dancer in musicals, and in 1957, got his first acting role in the movie Under Fire. Then he moved to New York to work on Broadway, and was cast in the musical West Side Story, in which he performed for two years, after which he appeared in the movie adaptation, which won 10 Oscars. In the sixties, he began starring in films with Hollywood stars Charlton Heston, Lana Turner, and Gene Kelly, appearing mostly in musicals, while in the eighties, he turned to television.
