He worked on radio, television and in film as well. Billy Gilbert's most important work includes: The Great Dictator (1940), His Girl Friday (1940), and Fun & Fancy Free (1947). In the 1960s, he retired in Hollywood until his death. He died in Hollywood, California, on September 23, 1971.
