Thelma Todd was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, USA on July 29, 1906. Upon graduating, her mother pushed her to enter beauty pageants. After being discovered, she presented several short comedies, then signed a contract with Paramount and presented her first film, a romantic comedy, Fascination Youth (1926). Her most notable films are Monkey Business (1931), The Maltese Falcon (1931), Horse Feathers (1932) and The Bohemian Girl (1936). She died in Pacific Palisades, California, on December 16, 1935 of carbon monoxide poisoning.
