She got married twice, first to screenwriter John Monk Saunders, only to find out later that he was addicted to alcohol and drugs, and secondly to a screenwriter also Robert Riskin, owner of famous works such as It Happened One Night, who died five years after their marriage. In 1953, Ray returned to acting and appeared in a number of films until 1958. Among her most notable works are: The Most Dangerous Game (1932), and The Cobweb (1955). She died on Sunday, August 8, 2004, at the age of 96.
