French writer and editor, born on August 14, 1926 in Paris. He was best known for his comic book Asterix, which he did with painter Albert Uderzo, the series has been translated into more than 100 languages, and has gained fame in most European countries. The success of the series led to the transformation of several books in to 11 films. 325 million copies had been sold of Asterix books so far. He died on November 5, 1977 in Paris. |
