An American actress, born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, on May 28, 1931. Among her most notable films are Giant (1956), How the West Was Won (1962), and The Game (1997). Carroll started her career as a dancer and magician's assistant, and got a small role in the movie Easy to Love (1953), then worked in TV commercials and had small roles on Broadway. She studied at the Actors Studio. She was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in Baby Doll (1956), then got the starring role in the 1956 film Harlow, after which she traveled to work in Spain, England, Germany and Mexico, then returned to American films.
