Julie Bishop a.k.a. Jacqueline Wells was an American actress, born in Denver, Colorado, on August 30, 1914, as Jacqueline Brown. Her most notable films include The Black Cat (1934), The Bohemian Girl (1936), and Northern Pursuit (1943). She grew up in Texas, the daughter of a wealthy banker and oilman, and after her parents got divorced, she moved to Los Angeles, where she began acting as a child in silent films with Hollywood giants Clara Bow and Mary Pickford. Her first silent film was Children of Jazz (1923). In 1941 when she signed on with Warner Bros., who stipulated that she change her name to Julie Bishop. She also appeared on stage in a number of classic Shakespearean plays under the name Diane Duvall, and in a number of TV series, the most important of which was My Hero (1952-1953). She died of pneumonia on her 87th birthday, in Mendocino, California on August 30, 2001.
