An American actor, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, on February 26, 1920, as Ira Leonard Rosenberg. After completing his high school studies at the Tulsa School, he joined Evanston University in Illinois, where he studied modern science and drama. After graduating, he studied acting...Read more and took lessons in ballet and semi-professional dancing. He received his Ph.D. in Humanities in 2002 from Pace University. Tony was the son of an art dealer, so he loved collecting antiques. He got married from outside the artistic community to Florence Gibbs (1938-1992) and remained with her until her death. He also got married to the actress Heather Harlan (1995-2004), with whom he has two children, and she accompanied him until his death. His first daughter, Julia Laurette Randall, was born in 1997, and his second son, Jefferson Salvini Randall, was born in 1998. During the 1940s, he appeared mostly in supporting roles in Broadway plays. He was given his first leading role in Inherit the Wind (1995). Among his most known works are Pillow Talk (1995), and Lover Come Back (1961). He won an Emmy in 1975 for the TV series The Odd Couple (1970-1975). Tony founded the National Theater in New York. He died on May 17, 2004 of pneumonia he had contracted following coronary bypass surgery in December 2003.
