Robert Mitchum was an American actor born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on August 6, 1917 as Robert Charles Durman Mitchum. He won a Golden Apple in 1950, a Star on the Walk of Fame in 1984, a Golden Globes Award in 1992 and a Golden Boat Award in 1994. Robert Mitchum learned acting in one of the amateur theaters and joined the Lockheed Aircraft Company, and practiced boxing in it until he was temporarily blinded. At that time, he won many small roles in movies, and his star rose quickly until he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. He is best known for starring in Midway (1976), and Cape Fear (1991). |
