An American author, born in Flagstaff, Arizona. She is of English and Mexican origins. She studied zoology at Northern Arizona University, from which she graduated in 1973. Then she moved to California and obtained a master’s degree in marine biology. Then she obtained a doctorate in environmental sciences, which she obtained from the University of Arizona. She is known for writing the Outlander series of novels in 1991, where romance, fantasy, and history merged .She presented the novel Dragonfly in Amber in 1992, then the novel Drums of Autumn in 1996, and the novel The Fiery Cross in 2001.
