British actor born in Semley, Wiltshire, UK on 26 May 1908. He studied acting at RADA and made his stage debut in 1929 and his onscreen debut in as Louis XVI on Marie Antoinette (1938). His most notable works include The African Queen (1951), Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe (1978), and Beat the Devil (1953). He married Joan Buckmaster and had three children who became actors themselves: Sheridan, Annabel, and Wilton Morley. He died on 3 June 1992 in Wargrave, Berkshire, UK. |
