Australian dancer, screenwriter, and film actor, born in Maningrida, Northern Australia. His talent for dancing drew the attention of British director Nicolas Roeg, who cast him in the lead part of his renowned film Walkabout (1971). He put together dance and music groups and performed at festivals all around Australia. He is known for Crocodile Dundee (1986), Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002), and Cargo (2017). His services to the Australian community were recognized with an award of the Australian Centenary Medal in the Queen's Honors List for 2001, as well as being appointed as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 1987.
