An Iraqi director and writer, born in Baghdad in 1955. He immigrated with his family to Switzerland in 1960 and studied arts at the University of Zurich. He has trained and worked as a photographer, writer, and director since 1980. In 1994, he took over the Dschoint Ventschr film production company with director Werner Schweizer and producer Karin Koch. The company paid attention to rising Swiss talents. Samir made about 40 short and feature films. He also presented a number of works for theater and in the field of visual arts. His most important works include Baghdad in My Shadow (2019) and Iraqi Odyssey (2014).
