An American writer and editor, born in Clearfield, Utah, USA. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois, where he attended Northwestern University in the late 1960s. He wrote, directed, and edited more than fifty short films and joined the American Film Institute as he was a colleague in directing and cinematography. During his time there, he worked with artists and directors such as Tim Hunter, Terrence Malick, David Lynch, and others.
